Short, familiar codes: E, T, A, I, M, N — one or two signals each.

Why Morse is harder than it looks
It's not one signal per letter
Morse codes range from one signal (E, T) to five (most numbers), and several letters share the same opening pattern. Recognising the whole shape matters more than counting dots.
Timing is part of the code
A dash lasts three times as long as a dot, with a matching gap between letters and a longer one between words. Get the timing wrong and even a correct sequence sounds off.
Why answers get explained
When you miss one, we compare the two Morse patterns directly — a missing signal, an extra one, or a reversed pattern — instead of just saying "wrong". See a real example above once you've made a mistake.
